Elon Musk is an entrepreneur, investor and technology visionary who has changed the way we think about transportation, the internet and energy. Over the years, we’ve seen Musk revolutionizing the auto industry with his companies Tesla and SpaceX. The electric vehicles produced by Tesla are some of the most talked about vehicles on the market today, and Musk himself is often associated with the brand. In addition to Tesla, Musk also has a collection of various vehicles. So what does Elon Musk actually drive?
Tesla
Considering Musk’s affinity for electric vehicles, it should come as no surprise that he drives a Tesla. In 2017, Musk was spotted at the Gigafactory in Nevada driving a Tesla Model X. The Model X is an all-electric SUV that features Tesla’s Autopilot system, a semi-autonomous driving feature. The vehicle is equipped with a 100 kilowatt hour battery, which allows for a range of around 300 miles.
Porsche
Musk also owns a Porsche 911 Turbo. The 0-60 mph time on this vehicle is a brisk 2.8 seconds, which makes it one of the fastest cars on the market today. Since it’s a Porsche, it offers excellent cornering and handling capabilities. The 911 Turbo also features a 3.6 liter V6 engine and a six-speed manual transmission.
Mercedes-Benz
Another car in Musk’s collection is a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The SLR McLaren is an ultra-luxurious two-seater sports car that features a supercharged V8 engine and an advanced traction control system. The car has a top speed of 207 mph and can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Musk also has a number of other Mercedes-Benz vehicles in his garage, including a SLS AMG convertible and a G-Class SUV.
Other vehicles
Musk is quite the enthusiast when it comes to cars and owns a few other interesting vehicles. He has been spotted in a Cadillac Escalade, and also owns a Honda Accord. Musk also owns an indulgent BMW Hydrogen 7 luxury sedan, and a Jaguar E-type Series I Roadster from the 60’s. Musk’s collection also includes a Ford Model T, a Toyota Prius, a Ferrari F430 and a vintage Ford Model B.
Alternative vehicles
Musk’s car collection also includes some interesting alternative vehicles. He owns an electric bicycle, a custom-made electric surfboard, and a Neutrino Electric Skateboard. Musk is also the founder of the Hyperloop project, which is aiming to revolutionize travel with a high-speed, train-like transportation system.
Not surprisingly, Musk has also invested in other rideshare companies. He was an early investor in Uber, and has also invested in Lyft, a rival ridesharing service. Musk has also become an investor in other innovative transportation companies, including self-driving car companies Zoox and Aurora.
Climate Change
Musk is also a proponent of sustainability and climate change initiatives. He is a vocal supporter of renewable energy sources and has expressed his opinion that electric cars are the best way to reduce carbon emissions. Tesla vehicles are owned by many environmentally conscious drivers, and as one of its most recognizable faces, Musk is leading the charge when it comes to electric vehicles.
Autonomous Vehicles
As the founder of Tesla, Elon Musk has a vested interest in the development of autonomous driving technology. Tesla vehicles are already equipped with semi-autonomous features, and Musk has expressed his belief that fully autonomous vehicles will be a reality within the next few years. He has also spoken at length about the potential of self-driving cars to reduce accident rates and make roads safer.
Space exploration
Space exploration is another area of which Musk has dedicated a lot of his attention. As the founder of SpaceX, Musk has set his sights on reaching Mars and beyond. SpaceX has already achieved a number of incredible milestones, including launching the first reusable rocket and landing it back on Earth. Musk’s ambitious projects have made him a star in the space exploration field and have helped to inspire a new generation of scientists and engineers.
