Elon Musk’s Position in the Richest List

Elon Musk, the South African-born entrepreneur, is currently ranked as the world’s fourth-richest person in the world. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index as at May 2021, Musk’s net worth currently stands at $170.4 billion. This puts him ahead of some of the world’s most successful people, including Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates.

Musk has earned his wealth largely through his successful tech companies and investments. He is the founder and CEO of electric vehicle maker Tesla, Inc., and Space Exploration Technologies, widely known as SpaceX. Tesla, Inc. is the world’s most valuable automaker and the third largest by market capitalization, worth more than $700 billion. SpaceX has become the world’s leading satellite launch provider, with over 1,150 launches in just 18 years and a market value of over $100 billion.

Musk’s ascent to the top of the richest list has been nothing short of remarkable. Before founding Tesla and SpaceX, he founded the web payment processor enterprise called X.com, which eventually became PayPal. Musk later sold his stake in the company for a whopping $165 million. With this money and venture capital investments, Musk continued investing in new companies and innovation, eventually setting off the various businesses that today make up his wealth.

Musk has also been investing in other industries, including artificial intelligence and energy technology, and is involved in philanthropic initiatives. According to Forbes, his contributions to STEM education, renewable energy, and carbon sequestration include a $15 million donation to donate books for children’s literacy and a $10 million investment in the future of clean energy.
