Elon Musk is an entrepreneur and technology visionary who has helped to create some of the most successful companies of the 21st century. He is the founder, CEO and CTO of SpaceX, co-founder of Tesla Motors, and chairman of SolarCity. In 2002, Musk co-founded SpaceX, an aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company, of which he is now CEO, CTO, and lead designer. In 2004, he joined electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors, Inc. (now Tesla, Inc.) as chairman and product architect, becoming its CEO in 2008. In 2006, he helped create SolarCity, a solar energy services company and current Tesla subsidiary. A driving force behind each of these companies is Musk’s vision to change the world and his passion for technology and innovation.

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, has said that he created the company because he wanted to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Tesla’s mission is to create and manufacture the most advanced and sustainable cars possible.

Why did Elon Musk design Tesla?

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, envisioned the company to be a technology marvel and an independent automaker. He wanted Tesla’s name to resonate with affordable EV manufacturers. In 2008, when the Tesla Roadster model was released, its sales were a complete disaster. The Tesla Roadster was priced at $109,000, which was out of reach for most consumers. Additionally, the range of the Roadster was only 200 miles, which was not ideal for long-distance travel. As a result of these factors, Tesla Motors was forced to recall all Roadsters in 2010.

In 2003, a group of engineers from Tesla Motors set out to create an electric sports car that would outperform any gasoline-powered car on the market. The result was the Tesla Roadster, which was unveiled in 2006. The Roadster had a range of over 200 miles and could go from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds. Tesla Motors then set its sights on the luxury car market with the Model S, which was released in 2012. The Model S was the first electric car to receive a Consumer Reports rating of “Excellent” and was named the 2013 “Car of the Year” by Motor Trend magazine.
