Current Status
Recently, world renowned musician, the artist formerly known as Claire Boucher or Grimes, announced her engagement to tech mogul Elon Musk, CEO of the innovative Tesla Motors. This certainly raised many eyebrows, since Musk is a father of six children, and already twice divorced. Soon afterwards, some digital tabloids started to speculate that their relationship might already be over, as neither Grimes nor Musk had made any comments on their plans to get married.
The confirmation given by both musketeers on the ensuing Saturday night made it clear that rumors were entirely false. The couple arrived hand in hand to the dinner, publicly displaying that they were still an item. Yet, some observers noticed that unlike other couples in Musk’s previous relationships, there were no signs of over-affection or intimacy between the two.
But even though Musk and Grimes have never confirmed going any further than being just friends and colleagues, the fact that they are still seeing each other, nearly five months after their first date invite a decent amount of skepticism. That is why, many people are asking if Grimes and Musk are still together, in a non-romantic way.
Musk’s Previous Relationships
The billionaire has been in several high-profile relationships over the years, the most significant being with British actress Talulah Riley. The two were married from 2010 to 2012, remarried in 2013, then divorced again in 2017. After that, Musk seemed to have gone through some rocky relationships with other celebrities, until he started to get romantically involved with his personal assistant, Maryanna Bondarova, in 2018. They were rumored to have been together until early 2019, when the tech mogul started dating Grimes.
What many onlookers consider odd about Grimes and Musk is that, for the past five months, there has been no public display of affection. This proves quite the contrast with Musk’s previous relationship with Bondarova, in which the couple had been seen, happy, with arms around each other multiple times during their short fling. In 2016, the billionaire even came down the aisle with his partner, a sign of commitment not seen between him and Grimes yet.
Grimes’ Relationship History
The Canadian musician was involved with X-Azari & III touring member Devon Welsh until 2011. Since then, she appeared to be single until news of her fling with Musk started doing the rounds. A close friend of Grimes had told some press outlets prior to their relationship that, according to the musician, she only wants to get involved in “a committed long-term relationship”, which could explain why she has stayed with Elon Musk for so long.
Grimes has never said why she was so attracted to Musk, even though several fans have speculated it was the musician’s rebellious attitude in the face of the patriarchal world order. Their union seemed like a true milestone for the artist, who breaks pre-established conventions every moment she has a chance. She wasn’t careful, however, of the consequences of her actions, and became the target of hate for many.
Because of those repercussions, some of which pushed Grimes to delete her Twitter account, many of her fans assumed that the musician had ditched her relationship with the tech mogul. Both stayed silent most of the time, not helping their cause at all.
The Evidence
