SpaceX, founded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, launched a used Falcon 9 rocket on Thursday, sending a Tesla Roadster sports car on a one-way trip to Mars orbit.
The launch from SpaceX’s Kennedy Space Center launchpad in Florida was the first test of the company’s heavy-lift Falcon 9 rocket, which is designed to carry crew and cargo to deep space.
